Spice and Emily at the Beach We became familiar with English Shepherds when we dog sat for our daughter's English Shepherd, Spice. Jenny adopted Spice as a rescue dog when she lived in downtown Atlanta, GA. Spice is loyal, intelligent, calm and regal. She is a true soulmate. I have no doubt she has awesome farm instincts but she has adapted well to suburban life. As frequent and willing dog sitters, my husband and I fell in love with her! When the empty nest syndrome became more than I could handle, there was no question I would get an English Shepherd. But, I did do some research. I learned they are mostly known as farm dogs, not city dogs. I learned they are similar to Australian Shepherds but have a tail, and to Border Collies but better with children and not so manic. I joined several Yahoo chat groups that talk about everything from rescue dogs to feeding to illnesses to joys and sorrows. I thoroughly read the English Shepherd website, www.englishshepherd.org. Here you will learn about their health, training, history and about stock dogs. Breeders are listed as well as facts you should consider before getting a dog. Emily was born Oct. 31, 2002. She came to us in December from breeder Erin Hischke who owns a dairy farm in Wisconsin with her husband. Emily is extremely intelligent, alert, loving and protective. See more about Emily at Emily's Page We bred Emily with Carol Ross's Murphy in September, 2005. Emily delivered 7 healthy puppies...including Meora. Meora was the one we kept. See more about Meora at Meora's Page. In July, 2007 we bred Emily again. This time with Tracie Sampson's Cowboy from London, Ohio. NEW PUPPIES!!! On August 17, 2007 Emily delivered 8 perfect, healthy, beautiful puppies! Most of these pups are spoken for, but we do have a few available to go their forever homes in mid-October. Check puppy photo updates on our Puppy Page. |
